    Accounting & Finance is one of the important components of almost every business establishment, institution, organization, industry, etc. Keeping the demand and to plug the gaps between the skills possessed by the youth and skills required by the industry related to financial services, the School in interaction with domain experts and industries has taken initiative to launch a new BVocProgramme in Accounting and Finance from the academic session 2020-21. The BVoc. in Accounting and Finance is a specialized undergraduate bachelor's degree programme which prepares the graduate to acquire such skills so that they develop competencies required for job roles for Account Assistant, Account Executive and Account Managers as specified through NSQF levels or otherwise for the financial service sectors.

    Programme Objectives:

    The objectives of the Programme are as below:

    • To prepare students to enhance employment opportunities as per the requirement of the industries in the Financial Services Sector.
    • To integrate NSQF Levels with higher education through identified Job Roles and thereby making the students job-ready for industries.
    • To organise such learning experiences with judicious mix of Skills related to Profession (Job Roles) and Education for Citizenship
    • To create a flexible pathway for multiple entry and multiple exit in the programme.

    1. What is BVoc Accounting and Finance programme?

    BVoc Accounting and Finance programme has been launched by the School of Vocational Studies, Ambedkar University Delhi in the year 2020 with an objective to develop competencies required for job roles for Account Assistant, Account Executive and Account Managers as specified through NSQF levels or otherwise for the financial service sectors. The course aims to develop skills related to Accounting and Finance which are necessary for working in a competitive business environment for supporting financial service.

    2. What are the eligibility criteria and selection procedure for this programme?

    The eligibility criteria is class 12th pass institution recognized by CBSE, ICSE and equivalent State Boards. Theselection procedure comprises of three domains namely, class 12th marks, weightage to vocational subject studied in class 12th and a well-written, comprehensive statement of purpose for joining the programme.

    The percentage allocated to each of these criteria for admission 2020-21 academic session is listed as under:

    3. I did not study Accountancy in school. Am I eligible for this programme?

    Yes. A student who has not opted for Accountancy in Class 12th is also eligible to apply for the programme. However, preference will be given to students with commerce stream background.

    4. I have a gap year after class 12th. Am I eligible for this programme?

    Yes, you are still eligible to apply for the programme.

    5. What is the fee for this programme?

    The total fee to be given per-semester is calculated as:

    • Tuition Fee: Rs. 21,440/-
    • Student Welfare Fund : Rs. 500/-
    • Additional Enrichment Fee : Rs. 2500 /-
    • Caution deposit (one -time payment) : Rs 5000 /- (Refundable)

    Note:The fee is subjected to revisions as per the University norms from time to time.

    6. What is Student Welfare Fund (SWF) and how it helps to students?

    An amount of Rs. 500/- is collected per semester from all students for the ‘Student Welfare Fund’. This fund is meant to offer financial assistance available for meeting welfare of needy students (based on family income criteria). This includes photocopy of study material, books, travel expenses to college, amount required to avail AUD hostel facilities, food or any other comparable needs.

    7. What is an Additional Enrichment fee charge?

    The SVS take an additional enrichment fee of Rs.2500/-per semester so as to provide industry exposure, special seminars, undertaking field work and interactions with industry experts.

    8. Are there any scholarships available for the students (each semester)?

    Yes, the University offers scholarships to top 20% performers in each semester results.

    9. How many credits are there in each semester?

    Total 30 Credits courses (18 credits Skill Courses & 12 Credits General Education Component courses).

    10. Will I get a degree or a diploma after the completion of the programme?

    You will get a degree after the completion of the programme.

    11. What is the meaning of full-time mode with multiple entry/exit options in this course?

    The BVocprogrammes are designed to offer flexibility to students with multiple entry and exit options. While enrolled in afull time mode, a studentwill be pursuing a 3 years degree programme with the flexibility of leaving the course after the completion of the each year courses with a diploma after the first year, Advanced- Diploma after completion of the second year and finally a degree on completion of the third year courses. The multi-entry means that a student who opted out of the programme with a Diploma or Advanced-Diploma can come back to the programme and re-join the programme at the level s/he have completed within a stipulated time frame.

    12. What are the future prospects after this programme?

    After completing the programme, a student will be able to explore the opportunities of working in the Accounts and Finance departments of institutions,organisations,partnership firms, companies, business set-ups, multi-national organizations and other similar entities in the financial services sector. The three-year BVoc Accounting and Finance programme will enable the student to develop the skills and knowledge that will enable him/her to either join in a financial service sector or even become an entrepreneur for setting-up his own business environment in the sector.

    13. Does the University provide placement opportunities after this programme?

    The University has a school level as well as centralized placement cell that aims to providesupport for the placements as far as possible.

    14. What are NSQF Levels?

    National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) has defined 10 levels of competency. School Boards are providing Level-4 certificate which isconsidered as equivalent to Class-XII. National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) organizes qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude. The BVocprogrammes offered in Universityis providing Level 5, 6,and 7 certifications.

    15. I have done Level 4 in class 12th, can I continue to the next level 5?

    Yes you can continue to the next level i.e., level 5.

    16. What is an OJT?

    It is On the Job Training or also known as industry internship which is a mandatory component of this programme. All the students are placed for internships with the industry every semester for a few weeks to develop their practical knowledge and skills through hands on learning at the real job floor.

    17. Can we do a Master’s programme after BVoc Accounting and Finance?

    Yes, post completion of this programme, a studentis eligible to apply for a Master’s degree programme. The course will equip you with the skills and knowledge required that will form the foundation of the Master’s degree.

    18 Does the University provide hostel facility?

    Yes, the University has provision for limited hostel facilities for girls at the Kashmere Gate and Karampura Campus.

    19. Is there any Industrial Certification available in the programme?

    Yes. A third party assessment is done after every job roles (end of every year) by the Sector Skill Council, an industry body under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The BFSI Sector Skill Council will undertake third party assessment of students enrolled in the BVoc (Accounting & Finance) Programme and a separate certificate will be issued to the successful candidate.

    20. Is the BVoc (Accounting & Finance) is a recognised degree programme?

    Yes. The programme is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
