The course focuses on the Job Role related to Tour Manager (Level-6) in Tourism and Hospitality Sector as per the guidelines of National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). The course is meant to be offered to those who have specific knowledge and skills related to Food& Beverage Service Steward (Level-4) & MICE (Level-5) offered in 1st and 2nd Semester respectively.

Course Objectives/Description:

The major objectives of the course are to familiarize students with the basic techniques related to Tour operations & its process. It aims at developing such understanding related to the role of a Tour manager, concept of Tourism, importance of tourism & travel industry. The course also strive to develop techniques related to deferent types of tourism products, destination planning, itinerary development for tour operators and various travel agencies.

While the modules cover the various National Occupational Standards (NOS) as listed below, which will be tested by the Sector Skill Council, the course gives a deeper insight into the industry.

  1. THC/N4414: Administer the company operations
  2. THC/N4415: Handle the administration and staff
  3. THC/N9901: Communicate with customer and colleagues
  4. THC/N9902: Maintain customer-centric service orientation
  5. THC/N9903: Maintain standard of etiquette and hospitable conduct

Course Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:-

  1. Analyze & explain the concept of various components of tourism.
  2. Prepare various types of itinerary making.
  3. Develop deferent kind of tourism destinations marketing plans.
  4. Manage customer relationship & customer handling
  5. Plan to provide tourist information with destination data regarding local heritage and culture.

Brief description of modules/ Main modules:

Module 1 Basics of Tourism: This module will look at the various Definitions, Approaches to the study of Tourism and explore ways of understanding the Distinction between Traveller, Visitor, Tourist, and Excursionist & Transit Visitor.

Module 2 Tourism Organizations: In this module we discuss about the various Tourism Organisations Roles and their Functions.

Module 3 Sustainable Tourism : In this module, we will be looking at ways of Concept of Sustainable tourism, Responsible tourism. Green Tourism: Concept of Carrying capacity. we will also see what qualified culture as an appropriate field for study.

Module 4: Travel & Tour Operations: In this module, we will be looking at Functions of Travel Agency & Tour Operators, Travel Information and Counselling of Tourist, Organisation Structure of Travel Agency and Tour Operators, Setting up and approval of Travel Agency Business.

Module 5: Natural Tourism Resources of India: In this module, we will be looking at Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks of India.

Module 6: Cultural Heritage of India: In this module, we will be looking at Archaeological sites, Heritage Sites (UNESCO Sites) and Attractions, museums fair & festivals of India.
